Feet don’t fail me now!

I have been giving my dogs (feet) a rest over the holiday due to inflamed plantar fasciitis and extreme cold weather. Never fear though I have been working out none the less. I’m not sure if I mentioned my sister (in-law) is a Personal Trainer at a women only gym across the street from where I live. Whelp she is! Yippy for me. I have been getting up and at ‘em at 5am every morning.

My routine includes time on the Sprit Treadmill performing interval training and floor exercise with medicine ball and palates ball focusing on a different muscle group each day. Then the best part of this 45 minute work out is the time I spend in the Infrared Heat Therapy Rooms. She heats the room up to about 120 degrees and I sit in there for 15 minutes with a 32 oz bottle of cold water and by the time I come out I am dripping in sweat and all the water has been drunk. My sister tells me that if I spent just 45 minutes in the chamber I could burn up to 600 calories. I am definitely going to have to figure out how to fit that extra time into my schedule. “Boss I’ll be to work late”

I just wanted to update you with what I have been up to. I am still walking a little bit but I have got to stay off the hard pavement and cold ground for a while. So don’t take your pedometer off, I still have mine on, check my step log in the widget to right. I’ll be back next week with another update post.

Have your steps suffered from the weather or an injury? What other types of exercise are you involved in?

The weather has certainly dampened my walking. I can't relax due to concentrating on watching for the snow and ice. Instead, I've been working harder on my elliptical at home.

So how many steps do you normally get in good weather, Debo Hobo?

Walking is great, but it's good to add the strength training a gym can offer. Helps build those other muscles that walking doen't use...................:)

iaadmin-I have added cardio and strenght traing at the gym accross the street from me. I workout for about 30-40 minutes then I sit in sauna for 30 minutes apporox then head for work.

Plantar fascitis can be real pain. I had it in summer of 2006. Took me six months or so to recover from it.
Anyway the reason, why I wanted to comment this article is that have you thought about riding bicycle (if its cold, then you can't do it outdoors, but what about those, which they have in gyms?).
Another thing that doctors allowed me to do, while I had plantar fascitis was to paddle on kayak, but thats real summer activity, but you might want to check how they would feel about swimming for instance.

Juha Ylitalo-I have never kyaked before but that is something I wouldn't mind trying. Ever since I started doing the proper stretching my foot is getting better. I still have the pain but I have to work through it. I am not a fan of the stationary bike, but I do use the treadmill and bike out side of doors.
